Summer Update...

Hey,
...Just checking in to let everyone know what's what, and like that.
I'm pretty much just enjoying the Summer and painting for the October show...which, by the way, I've come up with a name for... " Light in the Darkness".
I know, it sounds pretty cliche'...but it actually refers (at least partially...) to the color palette I'll be using.
More to come.
I think I'm going to have some work in a show in August too... as a part of the festivities surrounding the Seattle Tattoo Convention.
More on all of this, and everything else going on, soon.
I'll, very likely, be posting some preview pics in the not-so-distant future.
I hope everyone is enjoying the Summer-time!
That's all for now...

All of my stuff from the "Marinade 2 Perfection" group show is now up in my DeviantArt gallery. Go have a look. (keep in mind, this is not the usual Ego-style most of you are familiar with...it is intentionally VERY tattoo style. Ink and Sloppy Watercolor on paper.)

More on my October show at Seattle's new FLATCOLOR GALLERY to come also...

What's next?

Marinade to Perfection
A collection of contemporary Seattle Urban Artists

Featuring works by:
Ego
Solace
Weirdo
179

This show highlights 4 Seattle Urban Artists . Contributing themes include tattoo designs, toy and plush designs, traditional technique and cultural appropriation. Although the artists share a similar theme of taking urban subject matter and creating tantalizing images ; each artist has developed their unique style through very different backgrounds. From formal education, self taught know how and research, they each wield the power and understanding of their developed techniques to bring you this show. With this in mind, this exhibition just goes to show that you can't front on style!

M. Rosetta Hunter Art Gallery
Seattle Central Community College
1701 Broadway #BE2116

Artist Reception
May 6th 5-7pm
Show runs
May 5 through May 28

Gallery Hours:
9:30 am to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday
Evenings: 5-7 PM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
FREE

206-344-4379 / www.seattlecentral.edu/artgallery

(After this show I will be taking some much needed time off to develop some new ideas and work on my next show, which will be at the new FLATCOLOR GALLERY in Seattle's Pioneer Square, in October 2009. More on that in the weeks to come... stay tuned!)

BURGEONING HELIOTROPE: The Art of Ego and Weirdo

the RONIN.GALLERY is proud to present our first 2 man show with Weirdo and Ego Thursday April 16th! Burgeoning Heliotrope is sure to be an amazing show with the amount of talent these two artists have! Both artists will be flying down from Seattle to transform our gallery and show us their new works! Please come meet the artists and join us for a night of art, drinks and laughs! Ego is a Seattle based artist with a flair for slightly dark, whimsical creepiness, influenced by the macabre sides of tattoo culture, street art, and underground fine art. His work has been featured in galleries across North America, and published in many various media... and worn on the skin of his tattoo clients.

Adhering to the confines of classification, one might see Weirdo’s work in the light of pop surrealism or lowbrow if you must. Using oils in an organic painterly fashion, Weirdo devises worlds beyond comprehension. He melds imagery native to his northwest inhabitance and couples it with a highly graphic sense of rhythm and flow. Add to this the ever present life force represented by his “Orgns”, his love for digital embellishments, and then you get a small glimpse of the havens Weirdo marinates in. In the infinite pursuit of greatness, Weirdo extends his talents into the realms of large-scale murals, custom vinyl toys, as well as graphic and product design.

Nationally acclaimed artists, residing in Seattle, both will be at the Opening Reception for their show "
Burgeoning Heliotrope" on April 16, 2009. For more information, please contact: info@theroningallery.com. Contact for the artists directly is as follows. EGO: www.lordego1.deviantart.com or email lordego1@hotmail.com. WEIRDO: www.myspace.com/weirdopt or email weirdopt@yahoo.com
